About This Project
The Gemini Initiative
Hey, everyone! We are so stoked to announce our new project, The Gemini Initiative! For this project, we are teaming up with local artists to spotlight their work through dope t-shirt designs. In a world where the arts are insufficiently funded and consumers are paying less and less for artists’ work, we want to benefit the Austin community, which has given us so much. By doing so, we hope to get out the names of these amazing artists and showcase their rad artwork. Today marks the beginning of the pre-sale of our first t-shirt, Interstellar Leftoverdrive, designed exclusively by our friend John Pesina.
About the Artist
John Pesina
John began his career in elementary school drawing comic strips. Currently, he studies film with a focus on animation at the University of Texas at Austin and illustrates on the side. Hailing from San Antonio, John credits the city’s richness of history provided by Latino culture to everything he is today, which comes across in his work. He also draws inspiration anywhere from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’s Bryan O’Malley and Dragon Ball Z’s Akira Toriyama to 16-bit video games and black metal albums. At the moment, John finds himself doing freelance illustration for local bands and publications (including OUTER LIMIT’s Instant Leftovers, Vol. 2).
